Nigeria has reached an agreement with the organizers of the world’s largest technology fair, GITEX, to host the event in the country for the first time in 2025. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KAOUN International, the company that oversees GITEX.
According to the Director General of NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, this partnership will bring the experience of the best tech conference to Nigeria. He stated that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Agenda, which focuses on reforming the economy to achieve sustained growth.
President Tinubu is known for his emphasis on trade and economic diversification, and Mr. Inuwa acknowledged that no country can thrive in isolation in today’s interconnected world. Economic prosperity is increasingly dependent on the ability to engage with global markets and integrate into the international trade ecosystem.

By hosting GITEX in Nigeria, the aim is to explore the country’s potential in sectors like AI, digital health, and fintech.
